Back-to-School Prep

With back-to-school being just around the corner, you might feel overwhelmed with what to do before the first day. Kids are still in summer mode, and you’ll need to prepare them for the transition in their daily schedules. Whether it’s your child’s first day of school ever or first day back, here are a few helpful tips that will make the process a little easier.

Adjust Schedule

The hardest thing about a new school year is adjusting to a new schedule. A great way to get past this is to prepare for it ahead of time. You can do this by having your child go to bed a little earlier as you inch closer to day 1. During the summer, you may not have enforced a strict bedtime or wake-up time. Doing this several weeks prior to the start of school will help ease them into their new adjustment.

Limit Screen Time

During the summer, it can be easy to let time pass by without much thought. Your child will have probably spent more time on their electronics than they would have during the school year. Before they return to the classrooms, you should be trying to limit their screen time. This may be challenging at first, but they will not have access to their tablets during school hours. Help them become acclimated by replacing screens with fun books and interactive activities.

School Shopping

To be ahead of the crowds for back-to-school shopping, consider going shopping a few weeks earlier. There’s so much to buy such as new clothes, school supplies, and more. If you are aiming to wait on back-to-school sales, purchase the items that you need most beforehand. This will get a few of the main items checked off your list in case the shelves clear too quickly. To save more bucks, consider visiting a secondhand shop. After all, kids grow fast and will likely not wear the clothes for long, anyway!
